Latinx Heritage Month: Meet Our Staff, Rigo Rivera

Rigoberto "Rigo" Rivera is the Deputy Director of Programs here at Communities In Schools of Atlanta.


Rigo was born in Brownsville, TX to immigrant parents from Mexico. They moved to Georgia in 1996 where he was the first in his family to graduate from high school and attend college. He received his BA in Political Science and International Relations from Georgia Gwinnett College and MS in Youth Development Leadership at Clemson University.


Rigo has a passion for helping the Latino community, especially in issues involving immigration as well as minority and first-generation students achieving higher education.


Most recently, he was presented with the "30 under 30" award from the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Atlanta for his outstanding work in the nonprofit community of Atlanta.
