Derrick Manning Selected As Outstanding Principal
During Choose Success, we honored an Outstanding Principal. This year's recipient is Derrick Manning, Principal of Forest Park High School in Clayton County.
When one looks for an example of a servant leader, look no further than Derrick Manning. Principal Manning has been the leader at Forest Park High School since 2010 and has taken the school to new heights – blending culture through commitment to academic excellence.
Advocating for programs such as Communities In Schools of Atlanta is one reason the school’s graduation rate has increased from 47 percent in 2014 to 73 percent in 2020. Principal Manning believes empowering and grooming leaders, and he has continued to fight for equitable resources for his students, faculty and staff. His advocacy of the program, in addition to others, is the reason Forest Park has emerged as a school preparing all students to live and compete in a global society.
