ASSISTANT PROGRAM COORDINATOR
GOAL: To encourage students to excel in school through graduation and prepare for college by (1) providing personalized services to an identified case load of students and families with special needs, and (2) by assisting the Program Coordinator in expanding parental/caretaker support and facilitating community partnerships.
REPORTS TO: The Assistant Program Coordinator reports to the GRAD Program Coordinator at the school to which he/she has been assigned, but should also keep the principal informed about his/her schedule on a daily basis.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Exempt
SALARY RANGE: $ 32,000- $36,500
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Duties of the CIS of Atlanta Assistant Program Coordinator include but are not limited to:
Assist the Program Coordinator in implementing the goals of the GRAD Family Support Component as outlined in the school's site plan
- Assist in the development and implementation of Communities In Schools Site Plan
- Conduct home visits as needed
- Build one-on-one relationships with students and families
- Monitor daily attendance and contact parents of absent students
- Identify special needs and referring child/parents to outside agencies as appropriate
- Act as an advocate for students with Juvenile Court and other institutions, if. necessary
- Maintain accurate documentation of all interventions provided, collect required data and provide reports for the use of Project GRAD, CIS and the school
- Assist in the development and implementation of workshops for parents and students (e.g. health, college and career awareness, job readiness)
- Plan and participate in enrichment activities offered through Project GRAD
- Meet with teachers and other support staff of assigned students to share information on student progress
- Assist other GRAD staff in meeting parental/caretaker involvement goals as set by Project GRAD and CIS
- Attend required CIS staff meetings and training events, and other meetings as requested by the Program Coordinator or school principal
- Complete weekly, monthly and year-end reports on activities and populations served
- Participate fully in orientation and training, meetings and other activities required by Project GRAD
- Carry out other duties as determined by the Program Coordinator or Field Supervisor for the successful operation of the program
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree (master's degree preferred) in social work, social sciences, education, or a related field
- Previous experience in working with schools and/or families and children
- Excellent written and verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Familiarity with education, health and human services, juvenile justice, and other family support services
- Able to meet deadlines, work under stress, and function as an effective team member
- Valid Georgia driver's license, proof of vehicle insurance and pass a criminal background check
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to analyze and prioritize activities
- Can work independently without constant supervision
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- May require some light lifting
- Must be willing to travel, as job requires
Hours:
This is 12-month position. Working hours are generally 8:30 - 5:00 p.m., however it is expected that this person will have a flexible schedule and will work additional hours as needed to accommodate evening and weekend activities and reporting deadlines.

PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Goal: To encourage students to stay in school through high school graduation and continue on to college by; (1) identifying and coordinating appropriate community resources; (2) expanding parent/caretaker support and involvement and facilitating community partnerships; and facilitating the development of community partnerships; and (3) providing individualized assistance to students and families with special needs
REPORTS TO: Field Supervisor
SALARY RANGE: $34,000 - $39,000
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Exempt
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Duties of the CISA Program Coordinator include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop necessary relationships with school staff, parents and community representatives
- Complete a school site plan together with CISA and school staff, identifying annual benchmarks for GRAD Family Support Component
- Seek resources for the school community, including
- Work with the GRAD Field Supervisor and/or CISA Partnerships Coordinator to identify social, educational, vocational and cultural resources
- Provide orientation and training as needed to school staff, volunteers and agency staff working with the school
- Design and implement special classes, programs, and extracurricular activities including the involvement of tutors, mentors, guest speakers, and other volunteers
- Collect and compile required reports on services delivered
- Provide short-term, crisis intervention service based on referrals from school staff: including maintaining a file on each referral to document the services provided
- Provide feedback to the referring source on progress in resolving problems identified
- Serve as a case manager for approximately 15 students with special social service needs, including making home visits to complete a student profile and parent permission form
- Building one-on-one relationships with students and families
- Checking attendance and contacting parents of absent students
- Identifying special needs and referring child/parents to outside agencies as appropriate. Acting as an advocate for students with Juvenile Court and other institutions, if necessary, accurately maintain all case files, collecting required data and providing reports for the use of Project GRAD Atlanta, CISA, and the school.
- Work with other GRAD staff to increase parent/caretaker involvement according to goals established by GRAD, Atlanta Public Schools (APS) and individual school campuses;
- Complete weekly, monthly and year-end reports of activities and populations served
- Assist in implementing and coordinating GRAD component as needed
- Meet with the school principal on a regular basis to discuss the progress of the GRAD Family Support Component and keep the principal informed about daily schedule
- Attend required CISA staff meetings and training events, and other meetings as requested by the Project GRAD Field Supervisor or the school principal
- Participate fully in orientation and training, meetings, and other activities required by Project GRAD Atlanta
- Carry out other duties as determined by the Project GRAD Field Supervisor
SUPERVISION AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
For operating activities, the Program Coordinator reports to the school principal. All reports to the main CISA office documenting campus activities by the Program Coordinator require the school principals’ review and signature. For external activities relating to service agencies, community partnerships, volunteers, and parent/caretaker contact, the Program Coordinator is accountable to the Project GRAD Field Supervisor.
MINIUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in social work, social sciences, education, or a related field
- Three or more year’s experience in working with schools and/or families and children
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong management and organizational skills
- Familiarity with education, health and human services, juvenile justice, and other family support services
- Able to work independently, meet deadlines, work under stress, be resourceful and function as an effective team member
- Valid Georgia driver’s license and proof of vehicle liability insurance
